Karen Atkins, Nurture New York and Master Perun, master in Tibetan therapies from Universynergy Arts present a ‘Time of New Possibilities’ a new Interactive Educational Network for how to be more effective in health, business, relationships and lifestyle in these challenging times.
Everyone these days is saying that we are living in a time of crisis. This is nothing new, and if we look around, we can see, really, that the existing financial and economic system seems to be crumbling. Everyone is talking about this. On tv, the radio and in the newspapers, we hear people talking, arguing, even screaming, “crisis, crisis, crisis!”
This insistence on ‘crisis’ provokes emotional and psychological reactions in people’s minds that are not helping them deal with this situation at all and are in fact very dangerous.
What we need to understand is that there is NO such thing as a crisis. We can say that crisis is a “fiction” created by the wrong understanding of the processes that are happening. A ‘crisis’ is something a person creates in his own mind, as all the ancient teachings tell us. What we call a ‘crisis’ appears when the process of development is interrupted by some kind interference. So from now on, we will use the word transformation to refer to this phenomenon.
Let’s take a look at what’s happening from the point of view of ancient knowledge. In all ancient teachings, there is an understanding about cycles of development. We find this in the ancient civilizations of the Mayans, the Egyptians, the Indians, the Tibetans, and the Chinese, to name a few.
In all of these teachings, there is a period of creation or construction and…you thought we were going to say a period of destruction. But NO. That’s not it. Because the real meaning of this period is CLEARING: Clearing the space, clearing the mind, clearing life from something that has already lived it’s time.
For example, in Indian tradition, there is a period of Vishnu and a period of Shiva. Vishnu constructs and Shiva clears the way for new possibilities, but in this period of clearing, the phenomenon of ‘crisis’ often appears. Why?
Imagine a person who lives in his apartment and buys many nice things and takes care of them and loves them. Then, one day, this period of buying and taking pleasure from them ends. Naturally, a new period comes of bringing something new. However, his space is full of all the stuff he has already bought. He doesn’t want to get rid of the stuff that’s already there. But fate comes to his apartment and begins to clear the old things, despite his reluctance. So, he should be glad if he knows that fate is taking the old things and bringing new and better things, but if he’s too attached to the old things, he will lie on his couch, kicking and screaming and holding on to it.
And while he’s doing this, fate will take him out of the apartment along with the couch.
As a result, what DOES THIS PERSON HAVE? CRISIS…because fate is impersonal. It does things according to the laws of nature, and it’s not interested in the complaints of the person’s mind. It wants what’s best for the person.
And this happens all the time. Crisis does not really exist. What exists is a natural process of development, but because of a misinterpretation, a person creates a crisis for himself, and this can be multiplied by the influence of what he hears around him from others. And, in this way, a time of changes and new possibilities turns into a time of crises.
So, imagine. A person is facing a Time of Changes and he doesn’t know that these changes are for the best. He only sees the old things that he is losing. That he has no use for anymore, like old goals, ideas, connections, attitudes and habits. He should be glad, knowing that the changes are bringing better things that will make him stronger, more successful and happier. They are bringing many new possibilities. But he doesn’t know…And he thinks, “this is a crisis.”
He begins to magnify this crisis by over-thinking, imagining negative things, expecting the worst, getting lost and giving up. And to make matters even worse, engaging in conversation with friends and colleagues about how bad everything is. And this is how the ‘field of self-created crisis’ grows.
So, we learn to change our attitude and instead of thinking ‘time of crisis’, we begin thinking, ‘Time of New Possibilities.’
Remember, if you change your attitude, your life changes. If you stop thinking ‘crisis’ and, in your life, the crisis will end. Begin thinking ‘new possibilities’ and new possibilities will come!
So now, we know the Principle and the more conscious we are of this, the more open we keep our minds, the more we use our will to create positive changes, the better the life we will create.
You can say, “but look around. There is really a crisis.” Yes. We can see this in general in society, but you can think, “me, in my life, I don’t have this. I am living in a time of new possibilities. My life is facing new positive changes. I am open to new things, because and I am the first and only person responsible for my life.”
By thinking in this way, you will strongly reduce the general influences around you and you will pass through this period naturally. This is how nature flows.
Sure, now is not necessarily the time to look for harvest. It is the time to plant the right seeds of a new, successful and happy life. And if you are doing this consciously, knowing about the laws of planting, in a short time, you will have a rich harvest of prosperity, health, happy and harmonious relationships with others, development of your talents, and understanding of the true purpose of your life.
And now, let’s begin to think very practically, come to the here and now--to the way I live today. What seeds should I plant? Which transformations are needed from me at this time? What new possibilities do I have? What can I do to better my life right now?
There are basic areas in integral personal development that are the most important for us to consider at this time and we will be developing these concepts further over the next few articles and in our online discussions and workshops entitled “Time of New Possibilities”. In brief these are:
1. Healthy Lifestyle- Each person must come to their own understanding of what specific lifestyle works best for them, including nutrition and individual exercise program.
2. Self-Empowerment – Developing your personal power and re-establishing high standards and goals
3. Psycho-Emotional Protection and resistance to stress that is such a strong influence on your life.
4. Renewing Your Intimate Relationships- Understanding them in the context of the natural principles of a relationship.
5. Transition to ‘Unconflicted’ living- Resolution of internal and external conflicts.
6. The Art of Creating a Supportive Network- Evaluation of your connection to others and understanding which connections are supportive and which ones are detrimental to you.
7. Re-discovering Your Real Talents that will open new pathways in your personal and professional growth.
